LARA is the acronym for LGBT Academy of Recording Arts LARA, also known as OUTMUSIC was founded in 1990. The Academy is an alliance of recording artists, musicians, composers, producers, performers and supporters who are dedicated to the advancement of underrepresented out & proud LGBT recording artists and performers in the music & entertainment industry. LARA works to raise awareness and ensure that the LGBT community's contributon to music history are acknowledged, documented, celebrated and archived. OUTMUSIC's voting members select nominees & honor winners for their achievements and contributions with an OUTMUSIC Award trophy during the OUTMUSIC Awards Ceremony, produced annually.
